The Air Between Us is a browser extension that makes air quality visible using a visual overlay based on local AQI data.

Information We Collect

The extension collects the following information:

• Approximate geographic location (latitude and longitude) when the user chooses to provide location.
• Extension settings such as enabled/disabled state, Air Filter state, and last fetched AQI value.

How Information Is Used

• Location data is used only to fetch local air quality data from a public air quality API.
• Settings are used to operate the extension and persist user preferences.

Data Storage

• All data is stored locally on the user’s device using Chrome’s local storage.
• No data is stored on external servers.

Data Sharing

• Location coordinates are sent only to the air quality API provider to retrieve AQI data.
• No personal data is sold, shared, or used for advertising.

Remote Code

• The extension does not load or execute remote code.
• All executable code is packaged within the extension.

Third-Party Services

The extension uses:

• Open-Meteo Air Quality API (https://air-quality-api.open-meteo.com)

Only AQI data is requested.

Security

Reasonable measures are taken to ensure data is handled locally and securely within the browser.
